Rapid
Performance Improvement (RPI)
When
can RPI be used?
RPI is flexible and adaptive to many
different situations, independent of:
-
organization size
-
existing process maturity
-
process / performance focus
-
existing process improvement
programmes
-
local versus corporate level
improvment scope
-
single or multiple process
models and standards
-
industry domain
RPI Version 2 now supports three
implementation levels to meet various and progressing end-user
needs.
-
The Basic Level assists an
organization getting started with process improvement by
providing a set of process improvement practices that ensure
initial and rapid success.
-
The Intermediate Level supports
a more disciplined approach to process improvment; e.g.,
rigorous process modeling verification and validation, configuration
control of process documents, formal collection and tracking
of issues and defects of processes, and traceability of
goals and problems to specific process improvement changes.
The intermediate level of RPI satisfies the requirements
of the CMMI OPF and OPD process areas.
-
The Advanced Level supports
quantitative process analysis, and is consistent with Six
Sigma and similar methodologies.
RPI practices expand with the growing
end-user's demands for a more formal method of handling process
changes.
RPI Version 2 also includes tailoring
options based on specific organizational situations.
